Nestled above the beautiful waters of the Puget Sound on the west side of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Gig Harbor is just minutes from Tacoma and the I-5 interstate corridor. This ideal setting hosts a gracious, affluent community that is well positioned for future growth.
Settlers began moving to Gig Harbor in 1867 where they made their living fishing, milling lumber and building ships. The first Tacoma Narrows Bridge that would connect Gig Harbor and the rest of the Kitsap Peninsula to the larger commerce cities of Tacoma and Seattle opened in 1940. Today there are two bridges spanning the Tacoma Narrows. The bridges allow Gig Harbor to maintain its small town size and feel, while having easy access to the amenities offered by more metropolitan cities.
